Explore Offsite Infrastructure was declared a huge success. The one-day conference created a platform to network with industry experts and discuss the latest offsite construction solutions that will help to deliver the requirements of the infrastructure sector.

The conference was chaired by Darren Richards, Managing Director at Cogent Consulting.

Shortly after Joshua Southern – Associate Director, KPMG delivered a presentation featuring his Smart Construction Report: Improving Productivity and Predictability.

Davis Bray and Willie McCormick of Highways England, conducted a joint presentation based on ‘Highway England’s development of an Offsite Manufacturing Capability.’

There were four more joint presentations being:

· Ed Newman-Sanders, Technical Director- Atkins and Cameron Corsby, Project Engineer- Laing O’ Rourke discussing the ‘Crossrail Custom House Station.’

· John Roberts, Civil Director and Philip Robinson, Civil Engineering Leader of Laing O’Rourke on ‘Infrastructure and a Digital Future: Bridges and Beyond.’

· Paul Newby, Engineering Services Director and Gordon Cullen, Contracts Manager of SES Engineering Services speaking about ‘BIM Integrated Manufacturing with Remote Assembly on an Iconic Structure’.

· Stephen Wells, Programme Director – Mace Group and Jaimie Johnston, Director of Innovation – Bryden Wood sharing a presentation on ‘Delivering DfMA Innovation through the MoJ’s Prison Estates Transformation Programme.’

Phil Wilbraham, Expansion Programme Director, Heathrow Airport gave us a case study on ‘Heathrow Airports £16bn Expansion Plans’. This sparked a great amount of interest which, was shown by the vast interaction in the Q&A session held after his presentation.
Other high-profile companies such as Anglian Water and Loughborough University delivered presentations providing technical insight gained from a range of innovative offsite projects including; ‘Offsite in Infrastructure: how do you decide whether to go offsite or not?’ and ‘Innovation Approaches to Assets Creation and Operation.’

The conference left delegates better informed and interested to find out more – with many saying that they will be sure to attend the next Explore Offsite event!
