EVERGLADE ANSWERS BBC’S DIY SOS CALLBROCHURE TO THEIR MARKETING PORFOLIO

Everglade UK, a VEKA UK fabricator and installer based in Manchester is proud to have contributed to DIY SOS ‘The Big Build’ which transformed the Bolton home of Heather and Martin Taylor-Mann and their children.

 

The episode, which aired on BBC One at the end of November saw 150 volunteers extend and reconfigure the house to make it better suited to the family, and – in particular – their nine-year-old son William who is severely autistic and has a high sensitivity to noise.

 

Unable to talk, William communicates his distress through crying. He finds sleeping extremely difficult and is often awake through the night, which also disturbs his sisters.

HSE to carry out inspections following safety alert

HSE is reminding employers that they must protect their workers’ health by controlling the risks from welding fume.

 

The Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) current programme of inspections will review health and safety standards across the country and businesses are encouraged to visit HSE’s revised guidance to remind themselves of the changes to control expectations.

 

To protect your workers’ health, you must ensure you have adequate controls in place to avoid or reduce exposure to welding fume. Employers should be using local exhaust ventilation where effective and provide suitable respiratory protective equipment where necessary to protect workers in the metal fabrication industry from inhaling fumes.

CIC publishes new procedure to make adjudication affordable for low value disputes

On 18th  March 2020, the Construction Industry Council will publish a Low Value Disputes Model Adjudication Procedure (CIC LVD MAP). Adjudication is currently unaffordable to many SMEs, and the CIC LVD MAP encourages the use of adjudication as a disputes resolution process where the amount in dispute is small.

 

The publication of the CIC LVD MAP First Edition is in response to growing construction industry concerns about the increasing complexity and prohibitive costs of adjudication.
