So Brexit means Brexit, but not now, and maybe not anytime soon

The process triggered by invoking Article 50 may not even happen until next year and then it’s a process that can take two years – or possibly more.  There is certainly upheaval in the UK: a new Prime Minster, more quickly in place than anyone anticipated, and a whole raft of new government ministers trying to settle into new jobs and jockeying for position, and a Foreign Minister in the shape of Mr Johnson who may prove an inspirational choice or an utter disaster.  If you add to all this an opposition in turmoil and one that may have a new or existing leader, the UK political scene looks, shall we say, interesting.

Do we have a worldwide turmoil that hasn’t been experienced before or is it that communication and social media means that we are better informed than ever before? Chuck into the pot the Clinton/Trump face off, the odd problem in Turkey, plus atrocities around the world and, yes, there’s a lot going on and not a lot that’s good.

There is however some good news in the industry.  Modplan are showing signs of growth with their colour products, as are Rehau, who recently introduced more coloured foils into their window range.  Hurst Plastics map out more business overseas, showing that our international and European ties are still strongly intact.  A major product launch by Liniar, of their new Alumina door range also shows that our industry refuses to sit still and whether its make or break, for better or worse, there are no signs of us slowing down just yet!
