The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) became law on 25 May 2018 and is now a major topic of discussion across the UK.
With not a spare seat left, a successful one day GDPR awareness workshop organised by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) on 11 April in Solihull proved informative and highly useful for delegates. The GGF is now hosting another workshop on 14 June in London to further help companies in the industry who are uncertain of how the new regulation will impact their business.
With limited spaces available, GGF Members can register to the seminar for free with non-members able to attend for a fee of £245.00. This informative seminar is filled with tailored content to address the challenges that glass and glazing businesses will face following the enactment of GDPR.
Richard Hearn, Head of GGF Membership and Training commented, “Our workshop in April generated a great deal of interest. The topics which generated most discussion included the impact of a ‘subject access request’, ‘accountability obligations’ and the benefits of developing a business plan for GDPR.”
The June workshop in London is part of a partnership the GGF has formed with Cybercrowd, (specialists in cybersecurity and data processing) to deliver a series of interactive workshops. These are designed to inform delegates of their legal obligations in relation to data handling under GDPR and to allow delegates to ask the experts any questions on the incoming legislation.
The workshops are facilitated by John Payne, Cybercrowd Information Governance Consultant who specialises in data protection, information risk management and GDPR readiness.
Richard Hearn summarised, “It is important that the GGF keeps companies in the industry up to speed on imminent legislative changes not only through providing the relevant information but also by offering a platform such as our workshops, for them to raise concerns and ask relevant questions on the impact of GDPR.”
The next GGF GDPR workshop is on 14 June at the GGF Offices in Southwark, London and runs from 10.00am to 3pm with lunch and refreshments.
