EPR Architects is Gold Sponsor of the award-winning Fluid Diversity Mentoring Programme for 2020 and 2021, signing on for their fourth consecutive year as supporters of the programme founded by social entrepreneur, Danna Walker, who also founded Built By Us, the not-for-profit consultancy that facilitates the delivery of Fluid to a cohort of pan professionals, in the construction industry, annually.
EPR Architects is the award-winning practice with a well-established reputation for quality architecture, masterplanning and interior design thanks to its extensive experience delivering an array of building typologies across workplace, lifestyle and leisure sectors. It prides itself on nurturing the best talent and skills and it does this by investing in people and in the resources to support them.
Commenting on the EPR Gold Sponsorship deal Danna Walker said “Built By US has a vision that by 2030 it will have played an active role in the creation of a diverse UK construction industry. The Fluid mentoring programme is a fundamental part of that vision, and it was designed very specifically to address the retention and development of talented practitioners, from diverse backgrounds, for management and leadership roles in a sector, where they are significantly underrepresented.”
She went on to say “I am proud of, and grateful for, EPR’s continuing support for the work Fluid does to assist those already in the industry, at all levels, trying to find a career path that works for them. It is important to be part of an industry that is open and welcoming to everyone, including women, people with disabilities, the socioeconomically disadvantaged, people with gender protected identities, and those from black and minority backgrounds.
FLUID is all about knowledge exchange, support, and role models. Applying to become a FLUID mentee is a positive step to empowering yourself to face challenges, gain insight and perspective, and to aspire. I am proud to run FLUID which is free to access, and proud to work with our very supportive sponsors and partners, and the volunteer mentors who give their time to others, year after year”.
Speaking about EPR’s commitment to supporting Fluid, Chris Castle Managing Director said: “We place great importance on the people we employ and recognise the positive impact and the business sense behind a diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. At EPR we strive to be the best EDI employer that we can be, and it is to this end that we have invested in the work that the Fluid Diversity Mentoring Programme provides. Our aspiration is to retain and develop the talented professionals who are drawn into architecture and design industry but whom perhaps require extra support or guidance to achieve their goals.”
Since its inception in 2012 Fluid has helped over 300 individuals nationally, and internationally, to gain the support and guidance they need to progress their careers and stay within the construction industry.
