A million more homes and recognition of quality builders.

, Letters

The Government’s ambition to build one million homes over the next five years must be backed up by a comprehensive housing strategy, according to the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).

Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the FMB, said: “The Government’s target to build at least one million homes over the next five years is a great step forward to help address the growing housing crisis. This equates to 200,000 homes a year which, although is still around 50,000 fewer each year than what is required to keep pace with demand, is a realistic increase on what is currently being delivered.”

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and Local Authority Building Control (LABC) have forged a new partnership aimed at promoting the recognition of quality builders, it was announced today.

The FMB which is the UK’s largest construction employers’ organisation and the LABC the largest provider of building control services have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which sets out a series of joint aims, including supporting quality builders, and informing consumers of the importance of using competent, vetted builders for their work.
