AluK (GB), a leading manufacturer of innovative aluminium window, door and curtain walling systems, has expanded its range of BIM components with the addition of GT55 double door, single door and BSF70 3 pane which can now be downloaded from the National Building Specification (NBS) National BIM Library http://www.nationalbimlibrary.com/aluk.
Russell Yates, Managing Director, AluK says: “With an increase in calls for BIM compliance from architects and contractors, AluK is assisting its customer base to adhere to the requirements of level 2 BIM by 2016. We were one of the first UK manufacturers to provide 3D content – an essential part of being able to contribute to the BIM process – and currently offer 3D content for our windows, doors and curtain walling in Revit format.”
Steve Watkins, BIM coordinator at AluK, adds further: “We know that BIM content is not all about the 3D modelling; it is the information within the model that is essential. We have invested heavily into BIM training. Our specialised team has been trained by BRE and has achieved Accredited Professional status for BIM and principles of BS1192.”
Furthermore, as an in-house BIM coordinator, Steve is responsible for project specific content creation whilst ensuring that all relevant legislation is adhered to.
AluK’s own in-house management systems can be aligned with various WIP and allows to share and review stages of information exchange in the British Standards, all necessary requirements to work effectively in BIM level 2 projects.
Alongside its expanded BIM component offer, AluK is the first aluminium systems manufacturer in the fenestration industry to offer a RIBA accredited BIM CPD BIM: Aluminium Façade Systems – modelling, design, construction, standards and collaboration, leading the way in the development of innovative solutions.
