DHF expands its Industrial and Garage Door training provision

DHF (Door and Hardware Federation) has launched a new one-day Industrial & Garage Doors Safety Certificate, aimed at installation and maintenance engineers of industrial doors, shutters and garage doors. The new course, which is available nationwide and is open to members and non-members, is being delivered by industry training experts, Dave Hall, who has worked with DHF for many years, and newest team member, Peter Wyatt. Both have extensive experience in the installation and maintenance of industrial doors and garage doors and are NVQ assessors.

The new one-day training course, based on elements of publication, DHF TS 012:2018, for Design, Manufacture Installation and Maintenance of Industrial Doors and Domestic Garage Doors, increases DHF’s training offering and complements the original two-day Safety Diploma course but does not replace it. It is intended for industrial and garage door installation and maintenance operatives and may also be relevant to some sales people who wish to expand their knowledge. Delegates will learn how to use relevant parts of DHF TS 012:2018 and gain a greater understanding of the safety standards affecting the safety of new installations, maintenance and repair of industrial and garage doors.

Renowned industry-wide for its on-going commitment to improving safety and raising standards through its extensive range of comprehensive training programmes, DHF’s 450-member companies provide the level of safety, quality, reliability and compliance increasingly demanded by specifiers, contractors and end users. As DHF Marketing Manager, Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens explains, through DHF’s dedicated training courses, it is hoped that the problem of untrained and inexperienced personnel who supply and install unsafe products, will become a thing of the past.

“It is a condition of DHF membership that at least one person (who is able to change existing or implement new legal compliance processes) at every member company has attended and passed the two-day Industrial & Garage Doors Safety Diploma by December 2018,” she says.

“There is simply no place in our industry for illegal products and irresponsible conduct and we are continually driving the message that proper training is the foundation for better standards. The new one-day Industrial & Garage Door Safety Certificate has been created to sit alongside the two-day course, and in response to industry demand to provide something specific for installers. As a federation dedicated to ensuring products on the market are safe and compliant, we provide the industry with the appropriate training, information and support to enable our members to be compliant and aware of their legal responsibilities with the full weight of the federation behind them”.
