When their children left home The Herridges started to think about downsizing.
Valerie and her husband John – both 71 – had lived in their big family home in Waterlooville for 30 years and were finding it hard to maintain the spacious garden and sizeable interior.
“We’d talked about downsizing for ages,” explains Valerie. “We wanted something that was smaller and easier to maintain, but we also wanted something which was luxurious, felt homely and we didn’t want to compromise. Eventually, we decided it was time to move on.”

“It did take some getting used to,” admits Valerie. “But, this house is now a home. The garden might be smaller, but we have made it a spectacular extension of our home.”
“We looked at a few new build homes in the area, but Peacock Gardens ticked all of our boxes,” concludes Valerie. “We still like to get out and about and the bus stop at the end of the road was also attractive to us.”
