‘Fabricator of the Year’ G13 Award win for Halo’s SWC Trade Frames

The team at Scarborough-based SWC Trade Frames were absolutely delighted to pick up the coveted Fabricator of the Year Award at the recent G13 Awards.

The trophy was presented to the team at the glittering Awards Presentation and Gala Dinner hosted by comedian and television presenter Dara O’Briain at London’s Hilton Hotel on 30 November.

SWC is a family-run, progressive business with a clear vision, that has been successfully trading in Scarborough, North Yorkshire for more than 24 years. The company has continued flourish year-upon-year since it was established in 1989, which MD Susan Richings believes, was key to their entry for the award.

“We have grown as a result of investment, through continuous improvement and the deliverance of quality of service, marketing and technical expertise. This in turn has benefited our trade customers, whose businesses have grown over the years by working closely with SWC. This approach has helped us achieve substantial growth – manufacturing in excess of 900 frames per week as opposed to 724 in 2012. SWC has always moved forward from a position of strength. Continuous investment in machinery, people and work process technology has always been a core focus for us, and in 2010, an initial investment of £1.3M allowed us to relocate to a larger 70,000 sq ft site to improve our operational efficiency and service to customers.

“Of course, using the right profile is paramount to our success, and the reputation of the Halo brand is world renowned as being an industry leader. Being partnered with Halo, the UK’s leading systems company, gives both us and our customers the stability that not many other suppliers can give.”

“Our partnering approach with stakeholders, customers, suppliers and local community is unparalleled in the industry. I firmly believe that building long-standing relationships is key to our success and one of the reasons the judges chose us as winners of this award. More than half of our customers have traded with SWC for more than 10 years, buying across our entire range, and of our 100 committed employees, more than a third have clocked up over a decade of service.”

Susan concludes: “We faced some tough competition and were up against some well-established and successful companies, so it was fantastic to win and have our efforts recognised.”
