A massive surge in homeowner spending has helped a North East company record the best-ever sales month in its 43-year history.

Pennine Home Improvements, which is part of the London Stock Exchange 1000-recognised Conservatory Outlet Group, has achieved more than £1.25m of orders in just twenty-eight days.

The firm has passed this impressive milestone with its two showrooms in Durham and Newcastle closed due to the Covid-19 lockdown, switching from face-to-face meetings to an impressive new digital approach.

Clients have been using video calls, a 3D virtual reality package and a new design app that allows them to see how conservatory products, doors, extensions and windows could look from the comfort of their own homes.

“Our team never fails to amaze and they have done it again with February sales up 25% on the same time last year, all of this achieved through online communication and adhering to Covid-19 measures,” explained Nigel Morris, Sales Director of Pennine Home Improvements.

“Despite customers not being able to set foot in any of our showrooms, we have still been able to satisfy their desire to use the money saved from not going out to accelerate improvements to the home.”

He continued: “This has seen people decide to change windows, buy new front doors and, tellingly, press the button on major extensions. There’s a pent-up demand and we’ve been able to meet it head on by using digital technology to help clients plan and bring our products and plans to life through virtual reality.

“Our order book for the rest of 2021 is extremely strong and we’re on track to increase turnover by 50% by 2024.”

Pennine Home Improvements sells conservatories, doors, extensions, orangeries and windows from its three showrooms across the North East.

Many of its products are exclusive, including the Extreme collection of UPVC windows and doors and its Envisage flush casement window range, an exquisitely stylish suite of windows that come in a huge choice of colours to ensure they make a real mark on the home.

Thanks to the state-of-the-art design tool, customers have been able to search through the company’s entire range, selecting different combinations and testing different colours to create the ideal home improvement.

Throughout the online process, the software offers clear and on-the-spot pricing on every design ensuring complete transparency.

Jonathan Young, Managing Director of Pennine Home Improvements, went on to add:

“Covid-19 hasn’t stopped us investing in other areas of the business and I’m proud to say we’ve strengthened our apprenticeship scheme to recruit the next generation of tradespeople.

“It’s great seeing how young people develop and embrace the ‘Pennine Way’. Kyle Barnes is a perfect example of this, completing his Bricklaying Level 2 Qualification in conjunction with Gateshead College and is now able to work independently. He’s going to be very busy in the months to come if current sales are anything to go by.”
