Large Danish glass manufacturer sets its sights on the UK market

Danish glass manufacturer Glaseksperten sees enormous potential in the UK market and has set its sights on reaching agreements with large industrial customers. The new market is an important part of Glaseksperten’s growth strategy for the coming years.

Denmark’s largest manufacturer of glass for building purposes, Glaseksperten, is ready to take the next step in the company’s ambitious growth strategy. Glaseksperten is now embarking on a targeted sales and marketing campaign to gain a foothold in the large UK market. Initially, the campaign will target England, Scotland and Wales, but Ireland and Northern Ireland are also very relevant markets in the long term.

“We see enormous potential in the UK market, which in the long term could become our biggest. We are very strong in the Nordic region and also experience great interest from German customers, but we have not made any effort to enter the UK market until now. Now we are changing all that, because the time is right for us”, says Export Manager Siggi Strandeng of Glaseksperten.

On visits to potential customers, architects and engineers, Strandeng has seen enormous interest in collaboration, and Glaseksperten has just hired Tom Evans as a sales representative, and he will be part of the team working with the new market. Strandeng sees the new hire as a scoop, as Tom Evans has worked in the glass industry for a number of years and knows the British market well.

In England, preferences in terms of glass types are often very different from those in the Nordic countries. But Glaseksperten has the products that are in demand and because Glaseksperten also has many other products, it gives the company ample opportunity to present products that customers in the UK are not so familiar with. For example, Glaseksperten has glass with the new type of solar shading MicroShade on the shelves, just as the Danish manufacturer is strong within toughened laminated glass, fire resistant glass, printed glass, among other things.

“We clearly sense that potential partners are interested in all the products we have to offer and our being able to supply products that complement those already on the UK market opens doors for us in the market. We are competitive in terms of price, too”, says Tom Evans.

For UK customers, it is advantageous that they can order all the different types of glass typically used in a larger building project from Glaseksperten. It saves time and customers do not have to coordinate with different suppliers. At the same time, it is a plus that customers can order all the products online and track their orders all the way from order to delivery.

Strandeng also stresses Glaseksperten’s many sustainability initiatives, as attention to this particular area is increasing in the UK.

“In the Nordic countries, we are a little ahead of the UK when it comes to sustainability, but British architects and engineers are interested in sustainability so naturally we will take advantage of the fact that we already have experience in the area”, says the export manager.
