, Trade Counter News

The University of Buckingham was established in 1976, has 3 campuses and 65 buildings. It has its own department for maintenance and repair which is led by Operations Manager, Matthew Cross and covers all plumbing, carpentry and electrical needs for the University.

The in-house maintenance department has a woodworking workshop, storage for all the consumables needed, an administration and records office and a team of 10 operatives that are all scheduled with a range of repairs and general up keep in and around the buildings.

The University of Buckingham Maintenance Department have a 1Stop™ from Quest. This was set up on allocated shelves and has stocked items that are only paid for when they are used. The list of items include screws, door handles, wood filler, CT1, sanding blocks, masonry drill bits, locks and many more items this is tailored to meet the University’s day to day requirement. When Matthew and his team need items that are not in the 1Stop™ they simply call Quest and the consumables, power tools or locks are delivered the next day by Quest.

Matthew Cross, Operations Manager at The University of Buckingham commented, “We have found that having a 1Stop™ saves us a lot of time with items on hand for us to use when we need them and only paying for things when we use them is a big plus point. The alternative for us is to keep going to a trade counter when we need stock and that uses up a lot of valuable time and wastes fuel”.

The University of Buckingham upkeep all their own windows with Quest consumables. The windows are a mixture of wooden, PVC and aluminium and by keeping on top of repairs and maintenance it increases the longevity of the window investment and ensures a high level of presentation and security.
Matthew added “Quest staff are all very knowledgeable – this means we can rely on them to help us replace more unusual items. We have sent Quest photographs of obscure items and Quest have quickly helped us identify it, so we could repair items in good time.

Daniel Wells, Director at Quest commented “The 1Stop™ solution works well for many of our customers, it’s a great resource. Steve our sales guy visits The University of Buckingham once a month and takes an inventory to charge the items used and to restock the shelves for the following months use”.
