Jack Aluminium makes the grade for award winning school building

The newly built St David’s Building at Huddersfield Grammar School has been named the Best New Development at the Huddersfield Civic Society Design Awards, following a £4 million construction project that features Jack Aluminium’s thermally efficient curtain walling suite. The combination of modern stone, wooden cladding and glass makes this a highly functional building with a contemporary structure.

Yorkshire-based MBE Glazing Systems Ltd, which has 23 years’ experience manufacturing and installing aluminium glazing systems, chose Jack Aluminium’s low u-value 100mm reinforced aluminium curtain walling for the award winning project.

Managing Director at MBE Glazing, Popsie Singh explains: “We’ve used the Jack Aluminium curtain walling suite product many times before for schools, retail and commercial buildings. The ‘clip-in plate and ladder system’ means we can rapidly assemble and install it on site. The combination of aluminium and PVCu pressure plates enhances the thermal performance of the complete wall to achieve low u-values, which makes it ideal for low rise applications in schools.

“The price is competitive, turnaround on stock is excellent and there’s always good advice and support from Jack Aluminium.”
